Changes coming to The Inkwell!
Let's get together and get things done ✍️
Hello dear Inklings,
Earlier this year, I sent out a survey to ask what you want and need from me when it comes to writing support and writing community.
The answers were very clear.
So, as I’ve been redesigning The Inkwell, I’ve taken what you told me on board. I want this space to be genuinely useful, supportive and inspiring. I want it to reflect what you’ve told me you actually need, not what I assume you need.
Alongside this is my own desire to prioritise real human connection and community, while managing my own energy (and writing time) more effectively this year. So, my mantra for this next chapter is:
Let’s get together and get things done.
Here’s what that means.
You told me you’d like dedicated writing time together. You also told me you’d like more time in community to have informal conversations and make real connections with other members.
So, I’m introducing weekly Coffee and Co-writing sessions on Zoom.
These will start on Wednesday 1 April 2026, from 1pm – 2.30pm UK time. We’ll begin with a writing prompt for anyone who needs one, then spend an hour writing together. You can work on whatever you want. After that, we’ll have 30 minutes to share a coffee and conversation, answer questions, address dilemmas, or whatever comes up.
About the timing: I realise this time slot won’t work for everyone, but it’s impossible to find a time that does! We’ll try this and see how it goes. Find the time in your time zone here and watch out for upcoming daylight saving changes.
You told me our group coaching sessions are the most unique and valuable aspect of The Inkwell.
So, I’m increasing the number of Reset Sessions. These will now take place quarterly, in January, April, July and October.
That means we’ll have more regular chances to assess progress, set goals, reflect on what’s working and what’s not, and hold each other accountable. I’m also extending these sessions to allow time for more depth and connection.
Our next date is Thursday 16 April 2026, 6-7.30pm UK time.
3. You told me that you’d like more writing advice and coaching support.
So, I’m introducing a private podcast for paid members. You’ll be able to submit questions and I’ll answer them in a voice note.
Sometimes what’s most helpful is being able to ask the thing that’s on your mind in the moment, whether that’s about writing craft, creative blocks, publishing, or the knotty emotional side of being a writer. This will give you direct access to me, and personalised coaching support in a way that is flexible and easy to fit into real life.
4. You told me it’s hard to keep on top of what’s happening when.
So, I made a Google calendar with all the scheduled dates of our Coffee and Cowriting and Reset sessions. Choose Google or iCal below and add it to your online calendar. That way, any new or rescheduled dates will automatically be updated and you’ll never miss out!
What does this mean for you?
You can still expect regular emails and essays from me, as well as occasional extras like interviews and live conversations with other authors and experts. That part isn’t going anywhere.
If you’re a free subscriber, you’ll still receive my regular emails and essays, and you’ll continue to be part of The Inkwell community here on Substack.
If you’re a paid member, you’ll now have access to the new weekly Coffee and Co-writing sessions, the quarterly Reset Sessions, and the private podcast. More on those coming soon.
If you’re a VIP member, I’ll be in touch separately, because I’m closing the VIP membership in its current form.
And finally, a practical note.
From 1 April 2026, the price of The Inkwell will increase to £7 a month or £70 annually.
If you are already a paid member, your price will stay the same. If you’ve been thinking about joining as a paid member, now is the time. You can come in at the current price and join us for the new programme from 1 April. We’d love to have you!
I’m excited about this next phase of The Inkwell. I want it to be a space where we all feel supported, inspired and less alone. A place that’s not just a talking shop, but helps you make tangible writing progress too.
I really hope you’ll stick around. Tell me, which part are you looking forward to the most?
P.S. Want to make big progress on your writing this year? Bespoke 1-1 support might be just what you need. My coaching goes way deeper than just another course. It’s designed to uncover the things that hold you back and support you to build the writing life you really want. If you’re ready to stop playing at being a writer and step into your author era, you need to read this. Now booking for April 2026.

I love the sound of this, Katherine! Just checking but I’m doing the Arvon course at Lumb Bank in April with you and Liz Flanagan - so were you still going to run the Wednesday lunch session that week?
These changes sound great, Katherine! I can't make the first Coffee and co-writing on 1st (will have just come back from 3-week holiday...jetlag 😬), but will join on the 8th!
