REPLAY: Rejection & Resilience: the writing rollercoaster
July 2024 Workshop for Inkwell Members
A big thank you to everyone who came along to our monthly workshop yesterday. We spent time considering the different ways that rejection can hold us back as writers and learned how to reframe rejection into opportunity. Lastly, I shared my five favourite tips for building resilience. Here are some golden nuggets…
Rejection can be sneaky, and not necessarily obvious.
Rejection can feed the negative stories we tell ourselves, leading to writing blocks.
The language we use at these times is crucial in how we cope, but we can change the language.
It’s been scientifically proven that we can grow resilience over time.
Getting clear on your purpose can superpower your resilience.
There is such a thing as rejection goals.
What’s good enough for Maya Angelou, is probably good enough for the rest of us!
For anyone who joined The Inkwell because they resonated with my recent posts on my early publishing experience and writing ambitions, I hope you check this session out. This is how we grow our resilience so we can weather any storm the business of writing might throw at us and keep moving toward a future that we define. Keep scrolling for the video ⬇️
