Hello dear Inklings,
This week, as I remain a semi-recluse, toiling toward my late summer deadline, I’m bringing you something a little bit different and special: a chance to work directly with fellow coach and creative business expert
and banish your inner critic.Let’s face it, we all have one, and learning to recognise and manage yours is part of life as a writer (mine’s called Marjorie, BTW). That’s why I’m delighted to bring this opportunity to all my subscribers, absolutely free of charge.
Sarah is an experienced marketer and trained coach, who now works as a coach and mentor to creative business women. Sarah’s expertise is working with the blocks that get in the way of our creativity, whatever form that takes. She’s generously offering two things to Inkwell subscribers. I’ll let her explain…
Your Inner Critic
If you are a creative person, or in fact, just a person, it is likely that you have an inner critic. The inner critic is the part of your brain/ consciousness that gives you all the bad news, but specifically bad news about YOU, your capabilities, what people think of you, what is ok or not ok for someone like you, how stupid/ boring/ annoying/ irrelevant/ talentless you are.
I am a coach for creatives and I see time and time again how, when my clients are using their creativity, trying to start something, grow something or launch something, that the inner critic gets louder and louder and sometimes puts a stop to them.
I also notice it in everyday life, in my own life too, the smaller and more subtle ways that our inner critic is working hard in the background to keep us small and in our place, to avoid any form of criticism or failure – but in doing so, it helps us avoid growth, change and success.
As you are a subscriber of The Inkwell with Katherine Clements, I am offering you two things:
My Inner Critic Workbook
This is the latest instalment in my Selfish Bookclub where we are reading Playing Big by Tara Mohr, but it can be read and used as a standalone workbook to help you explore your inner critic. Download it here ⬇️
My Inner Critic Workshop
This takes place on Zoom on Sunday 8 September at 4-6 pm UK time. Come along to this relaxed workshop to explore your inner critic further and discover more creative activities to get it out of your way!
I hope you find this useful and I look forward to meeting you at the workshop!
Sarah
If this resonates with you, I do hope you’ll sign up for Sarah’s workshop. I’ve never met a writer who doesn’t sometimes struggle with their inner critic, but there are ways you can tame the beast. You can also check out Sarah’s Substack here.
I’ll be back next week with more writerly goodness and news of what’s coming up this Autumn!
Keep scribbling…
Excellent 👌 have downloaded the pdf and have registered ☺️ thanks both for this. My inner critic can be a right pain in the arse.
I’d love to but I won’t be back from work til around 4.15…
